You can have an Orange Money account, regardless of your network.

To create an Orange Money account, you can :

  • Either do it by yourself for free: via #150# or by downloading the Orange Money Africa Application from the secure Google Play and App Store platforms and following the account creation steps.
  • Or get assistance: go to an Orange shop or one of our Orange Money approved distributors where it says "open an Orange Money account", with your mobile phone and an identity document ( NIC, passport/certificate of identity or driving licence), and proof of residence.
  • You must be of adult age

NB:

  • For minors (aged 14-20), the presence of a legal guardian with their ID is required.
  • Creating an Orange Money account is free.
  • You do not need to have a bank account in order to open an Orange Money account.

To find your nearest point of sale, call the customer service on 8900 or check the list of points of sale. Or go to the Orange Money application under the "Orange Money plus" menu.

To check your account balance, you need to access your account.

You must know your 4-digit secret code, dial #150# and follow the steps or check your balance via the Orange Money Africa application.

1. To transfer an Orange Money account from a personal number to another personal number, the following conditions must be met:

  • Be physically present
  • Be identified on both numbers
  • Not have an account on the number receiving the account
  • Provide the original NIC
  • Provide a photocopy of the NIC that identifies both numbers

 

2. To transfer an Orange Money account from a personal number to a business number, the following conditions must be met:

  • Be identified on the personal number
  • Be the owner of the OM account on the personal number
  • Not have an account on the business number
  • Provide the original NIC
  • Provide a photocopy of the NIC that identifies the personal number

 

3. To transfer an Orange Money account from a business number to a personal number, the following conditions must be met:

  • Be identified on the personal number
  • Be the owner of the OM account on the business number
  • Not have an account on the personal number
  • Provide the original NIC
  • Provide a photocopy of the NIC that identifies the personal number

 

4. To transfer an Orange Money account from one business number to another business number, the conditions of case 2 are required.
